Middle of the Aquarium

Today’s Photo:  Middle of the Aquarium

I took this shot on our last visit to the Tennessee Aquarium.  I took one of the Aquarium Center during a previous trip.  However, I was not happy with the way it turned out.  I set out to get another one.  I once again set up using the hand railing and began snapping away.  Of course, it is nearly pitch black with the only light coming from the tanks, a few lights on the floor and the colored neon lights on the ceiling.  The exposure was extremely long for this.  I knew from the last time, that I was not going to eliminate the people in the shot.  I was surprised when I began processing the image and found that I was able to get the shot completely devoid of people.  This shot would not have been possible without HDR.  If I exposed it for the tanks, the ramps would be too dark.  When I exposed for the ramps, the tanks ended up being to blown out.
