Today’s Photo:  Who’s Your Hero

This past weekend, I decided to try to get some sunrise shots at the Georgia National Cemetery.  I was excited, got up early and hoped for the best lighting possible.  What I got instead was not what I was after.  It rained heavy the night before and as I rolled out, the fog was heavy, but I could still see the stars winking from behind clouds.  As I drove, I ran through patches of fog and clear all the way to the entrance of the cemetery.  Then the fog got so heavy I had to slow down considerably.  There was a great calm across the cemetery and with the fog, it weighed that much greater.  Since this is relatively new cemetery, there are not many graves occupied.  However, I would have to say, there were too many with a date of death much too close to a date of birth.  Walking among the headstones, I had so many feelings.  I could almost feel the heavy burden that was borne by these soldiers, but mixed with the calm of the morning created a feeling of peace that I have rarely felt before.  Whether you agree with what our nation fights for or not, you have to respect these men and women that have taken a stand for the freedoms we enjoy.  Walking among these headstones reminds me that the price for freedom is not free.  Our country was built by the hands of men and women like these and its history books written with the blood that ran in their veins.

God Bless these protectors for they bear a burden the rest of us don’t.

It’s nice to see when others share your same sentiments and shine a light on the sacrifices of others. Amen to you, good sir! Very well captured!

Thank you Melanie. It is the least I can do for the sacrifices that they have made for me and my family.
