The Small Tree

Today’s Photo: The Small Tree

When I was little, I loved Bonsai Trees.  I think that may have been from the Karate Kid, but then maybe not.  Anyways, This is the several hundred year old Pond Cyprus that is the central piece of the Bonsai Garden at the Smith Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw Georgia.  While this one was the oldest, and made me feel young, I was impressed with the age of the other Bonsai.

Garden Lights Path

I am so excited, it is the start of Christmas Lights season.  No, this is not from this year.  However, I can’t wait to make some memories of lights this year.  This is from the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Garden Lights display a couple years ago.  I think my favorite from the gardens that time was the couple Admiring the Tree.

Under the Bridge

Today’s Photo: Under the Bridge

I found this interesting shot where the Chattahoochee River flows under Main Street in downtown Helen, Georgia.  I took this while walking around the day after hiking to Upper Desoto Falls.

Upper Desoto Falls

Today’s Photo: Upper Desoto Falls

This was a short, not too hard hike.  I was able to make it to Upper Desoto Falls and Lower Desoto Falls.  This was after running by Helton Creek Falls.

Roman Fountain

Today’s Photo: Roman Fountain

I had a couple hours to burn in downtown Rome Georgia.  I ran across this fountain in the side of one of the buildings.  The lights were just right to get a good view of the relief carved into the wall behind the fountain.

The Infantryman

Today’s Photo: The Infantryman

I spent a couple hours walking through the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning.  It is a sobering experience walking through the hall of the museum and seeing the history of infantry in the United States.  This shot is of the Infantryman statue that sits under the rotunda at the entrance to the museum.

Wormsloe

Today’s Photo: Wormsloe

A while back I was able to stop for a bit, at the Wormsloe Plantation, after a trip to Savannah.  The entrance drive is lined the whole way with live oaks that make a beautiful tunnel to travel through.

The Old and New

Today’s Photo: The Old and New

Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta is a pretty cool place.  Behind the museum proper, they have a series of trails and boardwalks.  I had to battle swarming bees to get to this place, but it was an interesting view of some old architecture and new.

Woodstock Fireworks

Today’s Photos:  Woodstock Fireworks

Every July 4 in the US requires red, white, and blue fireworks.  This display was in Woodstock.  While it was not the most comfortable, the rain cleared out just in time and it wasn’t too bad getting to sit in the back of the van and watch.
