Through It All

Today’s Photo: Through It All

I took this photo the other day while I was waiting on a super cell thunderstorm to roll through.  It was one of the cells that produced at least one tornado.  The rain had just started and the wind was moving the water pretty good.  All I was missing were some red rockets and musket fire.  I think I may have even been able to put a ship in the water.  It wouldn’t have been a large one though.  This flag has flown for a while now and has stood through many storms.

Sunset on the Lake

Today’s Photo: Sunset on the Lake

This shot was taken the same evening I took the Painted Sunset.  The range of colors were amazing.  It went from this blue all the way through pink and purple.  I was running around like crazy because it only took about 15 minutes to go from this to completely gone and pitch black.  I hope this is what most of the sunsets will be like this year.

Today’s Photo: Morning Fog

The other evening, the sunset was awesome and I was able to get a few photos of it.  I was very surprised to get up the next morning and find fog so thick, you could cut it.  So, what could I do but get out and get some more photos.  This shot is from the other side of the lake where I took this Painted Sunset.

Today’s Photo: Painted Sunset

It was about sunset on the way home last night and I had been keeping an eye on the sky to see if it may be worth my time to track down a good sunset photo.  I decided that it was too overcast and would not make the effort.  About 30 minutes later, I was told that the sunset was turning out to be pretty good.  I stepped out of the house and was shocked at how much the sky had cleared in that short amount of time.  I ran and got the camera for a few shots.  This was the last shot as the sunset was just fading.

This is another photo from my trip to the Sope Creek area of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.  This shot is from Sibley Lake which is near the parking area.  I was walking around the edge and noticed the clarity of the water.  I almost could not tell where the shore ended and the lake began.

At the last minute, I decided to take a trip to the Pine Mountain Recreation Area in Cartersville for some sunrise photos over Lake Allatoona.  The weather forecast was for partly cloudy skies.  Well, someone does not know what partly cloudy is …Continue Reading Here…

The Last of the Color

Today’s Photo:  The Last of the Color

I love passing by this scene nearly every morning.  I have taken a few photos of this scene and find myself coming back to this wide narrow format again and again.  I ran across this again with the last vestiges of the fall colors hanging on the trees and just as the sun was cresting the hill on the other side of the lake.  I stopped for a couple seconds for this shot.  It is perfect for the 12″ x 36″ print.  If you like this, check out the Snowy Morning on the Lake.  After getting this fall shot and the winter shot, I think I will try to get a spring and summer.  I don’t know if it will work or not.  There maybe too much foliage to see.

We were living in the country when I turned 16 and began to drive myself everywhere.  Luckily, I am an outdoorsy type of person, so I was able to find plenty to do.  A lot of the time, it was driving around and exploring.  I was fortunate enough to have a 4-wheel drive Jeep and a lack …Continue Reading Here…

Just outside downtown Jasper Georgia is a small county park called the Duck Pond.  About a year or two after I got married, my wife and I would go to this little park during her lunch breaks from the job she was working at the time.  A couple of weeks …Continue Reading Here…

Lake Arrowhead Fireworks

Today’s Photo:  Lake Arrowhead Fireworks

The annual Lake Arrowhead Firework show was July 1st this year.  I was fortunate enough to make it and get a few shots.  Unfortunately, I did not get set up in time and then, where I set up was in the wrong place.  Just as the show was starting, I had to …Continue Reading Here…
