The Steam Engine

Today’s Photo:  The Steam Engine

There is a room in the bottom of the National Museum of American History that houses some of the largest and heaviest items from American history.  This is the steam engine from the belly of the Oak; a Lighthouse Service Tender.  It sits in a little, well…not so little alcove at the back of the transportation exhibits.  In fact, it sits at the tail end of a complete, full size, locomotive.  Just around the corner from these are the Tucker and The Purple Racer (1929 Miller Race Car).  Maybe one of these day I will return and spend more time in the depths of these wonderful Smithsonian Museums.
