Today’s Photo:  Country Road Sunset

I am constantly amazed at the movement of the sun across the sky from season to season.  I always knew that its angle change during the year and it was due to the tilt of the earth.  I never really payed attention to it in real life, it was just a useless piece of knowledge, or so I thought.  Over the last several years, I have been paying a lot of attention to it and the position of the sun.  Now, before I decide to take a trip anywhere, I do my research and get the general area that the sun will be in during sunrise and sunset.  This is a road that I travel frequently.  It is almost perfectly in an east west orientation.  During the summer, the sun sets to the right of the road here and in the winter, to the left.  If you ever want to do some advanced research on a shooting location, or just because, The Photographers Ephemeris is a great program to use for checking angles before you go out.
