Five Minutes Later

Today’s Photo: Five Minutes Later

I am amazed by how rapid lighting situations change.  Several weeks ago, the sunset was absolutely marvelous.  However, the serenity of the photos gives witness to none of the mayhem and rushing around to capture them.  This shot is about 5 minutes after Sunset on the Lake and a few minutes before the Painted Sunset.

I See You

Today’s Photo: I See You

I have the best time when the kids decide they want to get involved.  They make such good subjects for the camera.  I have such a hard time choosing what photos to share because there are so many.  This is just another one from our 50mm fun day.

Time Change

Today’s Photo: Time Change

Finally, time has changed.  I am still not used to it, but now I will have many more hours of daylight for photography.  Not that everything else in life is going to get in the way.  The joy of children, a full time job, a wife and growing a rather large garden.  I would not give any of it up though.  They all make for too many photo opportunities.

Winter Tree

Today’s Photo: Winter Tree

It is interesting how every year, the leaves on trees dry up and fall off.  It makes for a beautiful display and a field day for photographers like me.  It is also interesting to see how many leaves dry up and remain on the trees from fall all through winter and fall off only because of the new leaves.  With as much bad weather as we have here during the winter, I don’t know how any can hold on that long.  I was out hiking several weeks ago and ran across this tree with a few leaves still hanging on.

Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

Today’s Photo: Kiss Me, I’m Irish!

There are days when I want to take photos of the kids and they are the worst subjects.  They will not stand still, I pose them and they move and they are usually in a foul mood.  Then there are those days that I run out of room on my memory cards.  Yes, all of them and I have several large ones.  I caught them in that mood the other day and decided to have a little 50mm fun.  This is one of the shots.

The Cool Falls

Today’s Photo: The Cool Falls

This is another shot I took of a small water fall near the old paper mill ruins on Sope Creek just north of Atlanta.  I wanted to get some shots of Sope creek also, but it had been raining for several days and the water was muddy.  It’s hard to believe that one of the largest cities in the United States is just a couple miles south of this point.  It’s nice to have these pools of tranquility in such a busy city.

Today’s Photo: The Roadside Barn

I love driving through the countryside in the south.  Once you get off the beaten path, the history of the area is plain to see.  I found this barn a couple months ago.  It is obviously old.  If I had the time to sit and listen to the stories it could tell, but I don’t have several years.  So, I just settled for capturing a photo of it and imagining the stories.

Morning for a New Beginning

Today’s Photo: Morning for a New Beginning

I have been trying for a while to decide what to post for today.  The reason… It has been two years since I started this Daily Photo Blog.  In the beginning, there were a few missed days, some rough times getting the motivation to keep going and bumps with managing the site.  However, over the last two years, most of those have been hammered out.

To begin year three, I get back to one of the gates that centered some of the most beautiful shots over the last couple years.  As with the photo being the dawn of a new day, this is the dawn of a new year and hopefully some new experiences for me and this site.

Today’s Photo: Fog Down Below

This is a small hollow just off one of the roads near home.  I have gotten several photos of it at different times of the year, but the foggy ones are my favorite.  I think it adds a tone of mystery to it.  I have been playing with a few presets in Lightroom lately.  I have been getting that nostalgic feeling and have wanted to process some photos with a vintage feel.

Night Lights

Today’s Photo: Night Lights

I am sitting here listening to it rain for the millionth time this year.  We are only a few months into the year.  All I can say is that I hope some of this is spread through out the summer also.  This shot is not of the rain, obviously.  This was from the fireworks show at Lake Arrowhead just north of Atlanta.  This one was a couple days before Pops on the River and a good chance to get some practice.  I had set up in what seemed like the most likely place, but learned that it was not as the show began.  I had to grab the camera and run to another location.  If I get to shoot this one again, I will chose my placement with a little better foresight.
