Fireworks Over Lake Allatoona

Today’s Photo: Fireworks Over Lake Allatoona

It has been several years since my schedule has allowed me to make it to the Allatoona Yacht Club fireworks display.  I made it to the shore of the lake a little later than I wanted and had to settle for a view further from the parking lot.  However, I was still able to get a good angle to watch the show and get a few good shots as well.

Savannah City Hall

I took off one evening after walking around River Street and made my way through several of the parks just beyond Bay Street.  I went through Johnson Square and found this angle to shoot City Hall.  Traffic was not real heavy, but timed just right that it took forever to get this shot without cars on Bull Street.

Empty Streets

Today’s Photo: Empty Streets

Just before Christmas was the Night of Lights in Jasper Georgia.  It is the annual tree lighting and it is a fairly large event.  However, it was extremely cold this year and people were only around for just a little while.  That made for some empty streets at the end of the event.

The Haunted Hospital

Today’s Photo: The Haunted Hospital

Among my many adventures in Knoxville, there were several walks along the Tennessee River.  One of those happened to be well after dark and to retrieve the car for me to go pick up my fellow explorers.  Unfortunately, it took me a few minutes more to make it to them than it could have.  I made a stop at Volunteer Landing to get a few shots of the Baptist Hospital that overlooks the river.  The hospital is no longer in use and reminds me of the set from a horror film.  Not that they scare me, but it was good to have several hundred feet of water to get some good reflections.

Canopy Walk Lights

Today’s Photo: Canopy Walk Lights

One of the paths at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens is a walkway that goes through the canopy of the trees.  For the Garden Lights exhibit, they had wrapped many of the trees in Christmas lights.  My wife and kids had gone ahead and I was trying to catch up to them.  Unfortunately for them, it took me quite a while.  There were a few good compositions up here.

The Burning Circle

Today’s Photo: The Burning Circle

This was the very first steel wool light painting.  I thought I had framed the shot perfectly, but could not imagine how large an area that would be needed to capture all the sparks.  I thought it turned out acceptably well anyway.  Hopefully, I will get another chance to do this again soon.

Reddit:

I was checking on some of the visitors of the site yesterday and noticed some traffic from reddit.com.  I had looked at the site a while back and did not explore much further, but took a big interest in it this time.  After a few minutes, I was intrigued by all the different stories and links just thrown out there.  If you are looking for random thoughts on just about any topic, it can be found on reddit.

An Empty Bridge

Today’s Photo: An Empty Bridge

This is a small foot bridge along the Tennessee River in Knoxville.  I took this late one evening after waiting around on the Gay Street bridge for the sunset.  There was so little foot traffic on the greenway beside the river that getting this shot was not that difficult.  I love the peace an quite on a night like this one was.

Wheel of Fire

Today’s Photo: Wheel of Fire

In the words of my oldest child, “OMG!!!”  This was such a hit with the family.  No need for fireworks here when we have real fire to play with.  I have always admired fire dancers, but never had the desire to try it.  I don’t really know why because I have an affinity for fire.  So, this was really neat and a great way to end 2013 and ring in 2014.  SAFETY is a must with this and I am so glad to have had such a perfect place for this to be done safely.

A Big Family Christmas

Today’s Photo: A Big Family Christmas

I hail from a large family.  So, when it comes to Christmas time, it is usually massive.  Just to give a reference, there are five kids and all of us have children.  We celebrated the other evening and this was Mom’s tree prior to the distribution.

Along the Neyland Greenway

Today’s Photo: Along the Neyland Greenway

The other night, I was catching up with several other people that I was out taking photos with.  They were all stopped right about where this photo is shot from.  I was so impressed with the shot that I had to get one also.  It was the middle of the week and the lights were on at Neyland Stadium.  We never found out why they were on, there was no one there.  However, we did happen upon a fireworks show that took place on the other side of the stadium.
