Grazing Cows

Today’s Photo:  Grazing Cows

Growing up I always heard of “old wives” tales and other stories of how to tell the weather.  Things like the leaves turning over, the sun being red in the morning and many others.  Several months ago, my wife ran across one that said cows lie down when it is supposed to rain.  I can confirm, that is an “old wives” tail.  I pass these cows and many more nearly everyday.  There is not rhyme or reason as to when they are lying down.  I have seen them standing through thunderstorms and the entire heard on the ground when it was bright and shiny and had been for days and was afterward for days.  However, it is kinda fun to pretend to be the weather forecaster and I find that I am right as much as they are.

A Door of a Different Color

I seem to be the king of random stuff.  I think this has to do with the way I see the world.  Like it is through the lens.  I found this one on a back-road near Rockmart Georgia.  It has a twin that I will post sometime in the future.  Too bad gas costs as much as it does.  When I was growing up, I would drive for hours just to see what was around the next corner.

The Law of Unintended Surprises

Today’s Photo: The Law of Unintended Surprises

Have you ever done something with certain results in mind and get something totally unexpected? I call this the law of unintended surprises. It is the opposite of Albert Einsteins definition of Insanity. Well, at least it violates that definition. I guess if there has to be a law for it, it could probably have been accounted for in the first place, but then I would not have the pleasure of these discoveries. So, this has a story to it. Let us begin… …Continue reading here…

The Final Light

Today’s Photo:  The Final Light

I have a hard time deciding which time of the day I like better, sunrise or sunset.  This photo is from just after sunset.  There is something special about the soft kiss of sunlight on the bottom of low lying clouds after the sun sinks below the horizon.  Whether it is sunrise or sunset, there are very few places from which you can watch and not be mesmerized.

PawPaw's Barn

Today’s Photo:  PawPaw’s Barn

Everyone has special places they like to go.  My wife speaks all the time of her childhood and going to her grandparents’ home.  Unfortunately, mine were gone before I had many memories of them.  One of the reasons I think there are so many fond memories of …Continue Reading Here…

Clouds Over a Barn

Today’s Photo:  Clouds Over a Barn

I spend a fair amount of time driving through the “country”.  One of the things you find frequently out here are barns.  No farm would be complete without one.  I see this one nearly every day and sometimes it calls to me to stop and take a photo.  Maybe it is just the clouds talking to me and the barn gets in the way.  It doesn’t matter much because the photo would not be the same without all of it.

I had to take my wife to Rome the other day.  On the way there, I found lots of good places to take photos, but was unable since we had an appointment we had to keep and you know me and photography…  After our appointment we went to downtown …Continue Reading Here…

Today’s Photo:  Barn by the Road

Last summer, I found several barns that I really liked.  I never made it back by to take photos of them, but I ran across this one the other night.  It was tucked along the side of a pretty busy road and you would not have seen it …Continue Reading Here…

That Bird

Today’s Photo:  That Bird

Driving along Highway 53 near Calhoun, I have seen this very picturesque chicken house many times.  Nearly every time I have passed it, the water has been disturbed and there was no good reflection.  Around 5 months ago, I went by on a calm day and …Continue Reading Here…

Distant Silo

Today’s Photo: Distant Silo

This was another of those shots that I found driving down the road. It was really just by luck. Most of the time, I have one eyes to the sunset and don’t pay attention to what is going on to the east. However, I happened to look the other way and to my surprise, I saw this.
