The Hammer

Today’s Photo: The Hammer

Not only does Smith Gilbert Gardens have some gorgeous flowers, Bonsai trees, and landscaping, it also has some impressive sculptures.  This one is located near the center of the gardens.

The Ornament

Today’s Photo: The Ornament

I went to the Woodstock Christmas Jubilee Parade of Lights the other evening.  The temperature dropped after dark and we did not stay for the tree lighting.  However, I got a few shots around town before dark and some of the parade.

Fireworks over Grand Lagoon

Today’s Photo: Fireworks over Grand Lagoon

A couple years ago I had the pleasure of being in Panama City Beach over the July 4th holidays.  I was able to catch a couple firework displays.  One at Pier Park beach and then one at the Grand Lagoon.  I was able to get a good place on the public dock at the end of Dolphin Drive.  Don’t forget to check out some of the other Fireworks I’ve captured over the years.

Lights and a Tree

Today’s Photo: Lights and a Tree

It snowed a little bit on Friday and continued into Saturday.  I could not resist going out and taking a few shots in the snow Friday before it got too dark.  This was with about 3 – 4 inches of snow.  We got another 3 – 4 after I took this photo.  The snow was so good, that we made a 7 foot snowman.  However, the temperature was right at 32 degrees and the snow was very wet and heavy, and the snowman fell down during the night.

The Monarch

Today’s Photo: The Monarch

A couple years ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Phoenix, Arizona.  It was a pretty cool place, but the temps were a bit hotter than I like during the day.  Now I understand the drastic temperature change from day to night in the desert.  While there, I took a little while to run around South Mountain Park, which was right across the street from the Arizona Grand Resort and found this Monarch Butterfly taking a little brake.

The Anchor Monument

Today’s Photo: The Anchor Monument

Walking around Savannah at night is one of my favorite things to do.  Not only is it full of excitement (not getting mugged), but the sights are pretty cool.  This is the Anchor Monument along River Street.  It is a tribute to all the Sailors that have lost their lives.

Alabama Cotton Fields

Today’s Photo: Alabama Cotton Fields

I was driving some back roads near Montgomery and Wetumpka and ran across some rather large cotton fields just before sunset.  I spent a few minutes in awe of the combine harvesters running back and forth across the fields… and, of course, had to take a few photos too.

Sony a7r:

I recently entered the world of full frame.  If I had known what I had been missing, I would have made the jump way before.  So far, there are a couple things that I wish were different shooting a mirrorless system, but the benefits way outweigh the cons.

You Gotta Be Kidding Me

Today’s Photo: The Boy

Between two girls and this boy, I haven’t had the time I used to have.  However, there is never a time that you can predict what he will do, say, or the look he will give you.  So, I couldn’t resist adding another photo of The Boy… Click Here to see…

The Small Tree

Today’s Photo: The Small Tree

When I was little, I loved Bonsai Trees.  I think that may have been from the Karate Kid, but then maybe not.  Anyways, This is the several hundred year old Pond Cyprus that is the central piece of the Bonsai Garden at the Smith Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw Georgia.  While this one was the oldest, and made me feel young, I was impressed with the age of the other Bonsai.

Little Wesser Falls

Today’s Photo: Little Wesser Falls

I spent many of my growing years kayaking the various rivers across North Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and various other places.  One of the coldest rivers that I have ever paddled was the Nantahala River in North Carolina.  The biggest waterfall that most boaters run on the Nantahala River is Little Wesser Falls, or Nantahala Falls.  I probably spent as much time below water here as I did above water.
