Reel'em In

Today’s Photo: Reel’em In

I was walking around one of the marinas in Panama City Beach, Florida when I found this boat docked.  I thought it was neat how it was the only boat along this pier that was docked parallel to the pier.  I am glad I got this shot when I did, there was a massive afternoon thunderstorm that I just made it in before.

Night at the Pier

Today’s Photo: Night at the Pier

After hanging around for several hours to catch the sunset at the M.B. Miller County Pier in Panama City Beach Florida, I wanted to get some more shots at night.  I waited just long enough to get some light from the nearby parking to light the bottom of the pier, but still get the stars in the sky.  I love the way the slow shutter speed blurs the wave

Tucker Bayou

In all the years of traveling to the beach, I have not been told as much about dolphins and told to look for them as much as this last time.  When we went to Eden Gardens State Park in Florida, I stopped by the park office on our way in.  I was just inquiring as to where the best photo spots in the park were located.  I got the whole park spill, which included making sure I stopped at Tucker Bayou and watched for the dolphins.  Even though I spent a while watching and listening, all I walked away with was this photo of the bayou.

The Pirate Ship

Today’s Photo: The Pirate Ship

I believe this pirate ship has a daily routine.  Either that, or they were making a pass just for me… Both days we happened to be at St. Andrews State Park.  I knew when I saw this ship traveling through the bay, it was going to the end of the pass and turning around.  That meant it would be coming by me again.  I made my way as rapidly as I was able to across the large jetty rocks just in time to see it sailing by.  Then it went through it’s routine of firing a cannon to scare all the beach goers.

Lonely

Today’s Photo: Lonely

Sometimes, I am not the brightest tool in the shed (not the smartest person for those that don’t speak southern).  After the drama of being stuck by a stingray, we returned to the same beach a few days later.  Unfortunately, I had developed quite an infection and spent most of a day in the emergency room.  Lets just say, I was not in the best of conditions, but seriously missing my exercise routine.  I decided to take a short stroll.  After about half a mile along the beach, I had left all the beach goers behind.  Just shy of the mile mark, I ran across this log.  It was sitting rather lonely along the shore just waiting for the storm in the distance to roll in.

Storm Over the Marina

Today’s Photo: Storm Over the Marina

In Panama City Florida, we were driving around looking for dinner one night.  We could not decide on a place to go.  Like that is not unusual.  We passed this sign for a restaurant on Thomas Drive and chose to give it a try.  The front of the restaurant was nondescript, but I was completely blown away when we went in.  It was not the interior, but when we went out on to the patio.  They actually had a small swimming pool for the guests and it overlooked this marina.  Of course, I had to go exploring just before a storm would hit.

Life:

So, the past couple of months have not been so good for me in the photography department.  I am hoping to get caught up now that several non-photography projects and events have been passed.

Don't Feed the Animals Order a print of this photo

Today’s Photo: Don’t Feed the Animals

When you go to a park, there are always signs that say to not feed the animals.  I’m a pretty common sense person and can understand why you don’t do that.  However, I still find people who don’t seem to get it.  Of course, I grabbed the camera and stood by while people decided to do idiotic things.  I’m kinda disappointed that I did not get to watch an episode of when animals attack.  This little mother raccoon kept walking back and forth from it’s den in the jetties to this waiting group of feeders.

Today’s Photo: A Crane

I was on the beach watching this crane.  At least, I think it is a crane.  I was trying to sneak up on it and get a few good close-ups when it decided to fly off.  This was one of the shots I got after it took to wing.  It came back a little while later and I was able to get a few shots of it perching on top of the jetty.

In the Tree

Today’s Photo: In the Tree

This summer, my focus has not been on landscapes like it has been in the past.  I have been having tons of fun with portraits.  So, I was not very surprised on vacation when my little one piped up and asked for a portrait.  She had seen this tree we were walking past and wanted to climb into the branches.  She is a natural at posing and all I had to do was snap.  This was one of many I took of her in that tree.

Eden Gardens State Park

Today’s Photo: Eden Gardens State Park

I enjoy getting to go to parks.  There is either some beautiful landscape that has been protected and set aside for the general public, or there is some historical significance to the location.  At Eden Gardens State Park, those both merge for a beautiful historic house and landscape.  The main attraction is the Wesley House.  However, the landscaping is beautiful too.
