It is hard to believe that it could be this beautiful less than a mile from where an EF-3 tornado hit the night before.  I had no idea what damage was just across the horizon.  Literally just across this horizon.  I went to bed at about 2 AM because I had to make sure the last tornado was out of the area.  After I was sure it was clear, I went out to see if anyone in the immediate area needed help.  I would have been much latter going to bed, but unfortunately, I drove away from where the tornado actually hit.  I took some photos from the area I would have gone and will post them later.

I have decided to use Flickr for my gallery at the moment.  Don’t forget to check out that page also.

I love to look at classic cars.  I don’t know much about them, but I am learning.  I think they are so much prettier than any modern car.  The lines are sleeker, the colors are more rich and the engine is bigger.  You can actually work on these with out having a computer and a certified mechanic.  This was from a car show in downtown Cartersville that I ran across completely by accident.  I am so glad I stopped.

This is one of the first planes you see when entering the Udvar-Hazy space center.  You begin to get a feel for the size of the place, but until you stand at one end and look to the other, you really can’t understand.  This plane is about 30 feet in the air.  I took a few photos in this building.  Somewhere in the neighborhood of several hundred and still feel like I did not get enough.

P.S. If anyone is paying attention, this one is a few hours early.

While walking around the Mall in Washington, I was given a tour of the flower gardens behind “The Castle”, the Smithsonian Administration Building.  It was raining slightly, but that just added to the excitement and challenge of photographing all the wonderful buildings, monuments and statues.

This is the Stone Bridge across Bull Run.  During the battle, the area on both sides of the Run were cleared for hundreds of yards to facilitate the decimation of the opponent.  This is not the original bridge form the battles, but one built just after the war.

This is the view of the field of battle from the old Stone House to Henry House.  I would have hated to be in this house when the shooting started.  Even though the battlefield was at the top of the hill, I can imagine that the bullets still reached here.

This is the memorial/monument at the end of the wall of honor at the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum.  If you have not been, it is a must.  I was amazed at the amount of aircraft in this building.  It definitely does not look like it holds much from outside.

Another shot from my local car show outings.  I just love to see the beauty and power of the classic cars.  What has happened to the world where everything has to be computer controlled and electrically engineered.
