Today’s Photo:  Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church

Another Church for Sunday.  This one is from just outside Marietta Georgia.  I spent a couple hours around the square downtown and was able to collect a bunch of shots of Churches for the up coming weeks.  I actually was not planning on shooting this one, but I had to pull over for unrelated reasons and chose to take this photo anyway.

The Columbaria

Today’s Photo:  The Columbaria

The Georgia National Cemetery is located just west of Canton Georgia.  It is situated on top of a hill overlooking Lake Allatoona and with a descent view of the east and sunrise.  My goal several weeks ago was to get some sunrise photos at …Continue Reading Here…

Today’s Photo:  The Stone Carvers Hammer

Like “leaf lookers”, I used to be one of the people who avoided craft shows and festivals at all costs.  I think it was due to my time living in the small North Georgia town of Ellijay and enjoying the gridlock and frustration for two weekends in October every year for the Apple Festival.  I would make it a point to disappear those weekends.  However, I have been getting lax in my …Continue Reading Here…

Today’s Photo:  The Skeleton Tree

I found this tree along the hiking trail at the Pine Mountain Recreation Area in Cartersville.  Well, I didn’t actually find it, the girls pointed it out.  It was fun and interesting to hear their creative description of what they thought it was.  I heard everything from a …Continue Reading Here…

The Big Dump Truck

Today’s Photo:  The Big Dump Truck

Most boys are fascinated by big trucks.  It seems that the larger they are the cooler and if it hauls a lot of dirt, the better.  All it takes is a trip to the local toy isle to find dump trucks in all shapes and sizes.  The common denominator for all is the ability to carry massive amounts of dirt.  And every boy that I know likes to play in the dirt.  So, it was no surprise to find a massive dump truck parked outside the Tellus Museum.  You know its a big dump truck when the tires are taller than your average person.

Today’s Photo:  Fall Creek Falls

This past weekend, I took a trip to Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee.  I was hoping to catch the peak  color change season, but I think I missed it by about a week.  On the other hand, I started my descent in to the gorge to look at the base of the falls and …Continue Reading Here…

Today’s Photo:  Moving On

Many years ago, it was normal to see or know of someone catching a ride on a train.  It was one of the most efficient methods of travel and at the time, one of the only ways to travel long distances.  Now, there is very little travel and nearly all [Continue Reading…]

Today’s Photo:  The Church of Latter-Day Saints (Boise Temple)

I grew up in the deep South and there are many churches.  However, there is not a large population of Mormons.  When I visited Boise, this was my first experience with one of the large temples.  The architecture was superb and the grounds well cared for, which is exactly what I would expect from a place of worship.  I just wish there had been better clouds to go with the sunset.

In the early 1800’s many Native Americans were forced from their ancestral homelands and forced to move westward across the United States.  The move took approximately 10 years and thousands of …Continue Reading Here…

The Final Light

Today’s Photo:  The Final Light

I have a hard time deciding which time of the day I like better, sunrise or sunset.  This photo is from just after sunset.  There is something special about the soft kiss of sunlight on the bottom of low lying clouds after the sun sinks below the horizon.  Whether it is sunrise or sunset, there are very few places from which you can watch and not be mesmerized.
