I was checking on some of the visitors of the site yesterday and noticed some traffic from reddit.com.  I had looked at the site a while back and did not explore much further, but took a big interest in it this time.  After a few minutes, I was intrigued by all the different stories and links just thrown out there.  If you are looking for random thoughts on just about any topic, it can be found on reddit.

An Empty Bridge

Today’s Photo: An Empty Bridge

This is a small foot bridge along the Tennessee River in Knoxville.  I took this late one evening after waiting around on the Gay Street bridge for the sunset.  There was so little foot traffic on the greenway beside the river that getting this shot was not that difficult.  I love the peace an quite on a night like this one was.

This is the bridge across the railroad tracks in Jasper that leads to the Woodbridge Inn.  When I was out for the Night of Lights, I found that they had Christmas Lights making a tunnel across the bridge.

Sometimes, the sun and clouds line up just right to make an interesting composition.  I decided to go out and take sunset photos on Knoxville.  I did some research on the sunset angles and the bridges on the Tennessee River in Knoxville.  I knew I wanted to set up on the Gay Street Bridge and shoot downriver.  I set up and began shooting and was surprised when I noticed that the sun was setting directly behind Neyland Stadium.  Moral of the story, when you research sunset and sunrise angles, look beyond the immediate surroundings.  Sometimes you get more than originally planned.

Today’s Photo: Old Railroad Bridge / Rome, Georgia

So, a trip to Berry College would not be right without staying around for a jaunt in downtown Rome.  Last fall, I decided to try to make it back by Rome at night.  I thought all the old building would look beautiful.  I expected more light and was disappointed.  However, driving around, I ran across this pedestrian bridge at the intersection of the Oostanaula and Etowah rivers.  It took a few minutes to find a good spot for the reflections.

Today’s Photo: Black Bear Under the Bridge

There is a small section of downtown Cartersville that is called Under the Bridge.  There are all kinds of shops and restaurants, literally under a bridge.  This is the Black Bear Lounge.  I think they were having an American Legions Riders meeting.

Some cities are more photogenic than others.  Chattanooga is definitely on the more photogenic end of the list.  This is the John Ross or Market Street Bridge which is near the Chattanooga aquarium.  I have walked over this bridge several times and always love the views from the bridge.  I was excited to be able to get a decent angle to capture it at night.  This shot was from beside the water cannons at Ross’s Landing.

Just outside downtown Jasper Georgia is a small county park called the Duck Pond.  About a year or two after I got married, my wife and I would go to this little park during her lunch breaks from the job she was working at the time.  A couple of weeks …Continue Reading Here…

I am continually amazed at Chattanooga.  Nearly every time we go, I discover something new.  This last time, I decided to walk down a really steep switch-back section of walking path from the Hunter Museum to the water front.  At the bottom of …Continue Reading Here…

Anyone who wants can check through the past year and a half worth of work and know that I am not usually a portrait photographer.  This is not necessarily because I can’t or don’t want to do it, but more of it being out of …Continue Reading Here…

Delta Queen

I spent July 3rd in Chattanooga with the family to enjoy Pops on the River.  It was a concert in Coolidge Park with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and fireworks at the end.  Someone said there were [Continue Reading…]
