The Sunsphere

Today’s Photo: The Sunsphere

This is another shot I took in Knoxville.  This was my second walk around town and was completely taken by surprise when I ran across the waterfalls and fountains here.  I had seen the Sunsphere on my first walk and made it my goal on the second.  I spent a decent amount of time walking through the park this night.  I just wish I had taken some shots of the Knoxville Convention Center.  It was all lit up that night and I made the assumption that it would be that was another night.  It was not.

Reddit:

I was checking on some of the visitors of the site yesterday and noticed some traffic from reddit.com.  I had looked at the site a while back and did not explore much further, but took a big interest in it this time.  After a few minutes, I was intrigued by all the different stories and links just thrown out there.  If you are looking for random thoughts on just about any topic, it can be found on reddit.

An Empty Bridge

Today’s Photo: An Empty Bridge

This is a small foot bridge along the Tennessee River in Knoxville.  I took this late one evening after waiting around on the Gay Street bridge for the sunset.  There was so little foot traffic on the greenway beside the river that getting this shot was not that difficult.  I love the peace an quite on a night like this one was.

Today’s Photo: Woodbridge

This is the bridge across the railroad tracks in Jasper that leads to the Woodbridge Inn.  When I was out for the Night of Lights, I found that they had Christmas Lights making a tunnel across the bridge.

Acworth Health Park

Today’s Photo: Acworth Health Park

I was driving through north Cobb County and ran across this beautiful building.  It is in a random spot with nothing else large around it.  I could not think of why there would be anything of this caliber in the area.  Then I remembered that I grew up near here several decades ago and surely there are more people living in this part of the county now.  By the time I made it to this shot, I could hardly feel my fingers.

The Christmas Ornament

Today’s Photo: The Christmas Ornament

I made a quick stop in downtown Fairmount the other night to get shots of the Christmas Ornaments.  My youngest decided to brave the cold with me.  Most of the time, she was running around looking at the other lights, but for this shot, she stood patiently beside me.

Wheel of Fire

Today’s Photo: Wheel of Fire

In the words of my oldest child, “OMG!!!”  This was such a hit with the family.  No need for fireworks here when we have real fire to play with.  I have always admired fire dancers, but never had the desire to try it.  I don’t really know why because I have an affinity for fire.  So, this was really neat and a great way to end 2013 and ring in 2014.  SAFETY is a must with this and I am so glad to have had such a perfect place for this to be done safely.

The Pier in Panama

Today’s Photo: The Pier in Panama

Winter is upon us and I am now thinking of vacation.  Last year at the beach was good and I’m thinking the beach may be a good destination again.  However, the decision will hinge upon what the kids want to do.  We went walking on the beach one night and made it to the county pier.  There is a stream, if you can call it that, that runs into the ocean by the pier.  It made for some interesting night time shots.

Regal Riviera

Today’s Photo: Regal Riviera

I spent a couple of evenings around the Market Square area of Knoxville.  The first evening, I barely made it out of Market Square proper and not at all along Gay Street.  This shot is of the Regal cinema on Gay Street.  The traffic was so bad that it took forever to get this shot with out cars driving along the street.  I guess I could have waited until about 2 in the morning, but I’m not sure it would have been any slower then.

Night of Lights

Today’s Photo: Night of Lights

A couple weeks ago was the annual tree lighting in Jasper, Georgia.  What a cold and windy evening and night.  I hung around after everything was done and cleaned up to get a few shots of the Christmas lights downtown.  This is the small park on the north edge of downtown.  I’m not even sure it has a name, but it looks cool with all the lights none the less.

Evening at Ross Landing

Today’s Photo: Evening at Ross Landing

Ross Landing has to be one of the most peaceful places in Chattanooga. Sitting on the Tennessee River with the Chattanooga Aquarium at your back makes for a pleasant evening. One day a while back, we had gone to the aquarium and then happened to be near the landing around sunset. Of course, I wanted to get shots of the sunset, but not much could match the inviting atmosphere and friendly people we an into while visiting.
