Today’s Photo: Plane Engine
December 17, 1903, the Wright Brothers made the first powered and controlled flight. Since then, there have been many advancements in the field of aviation. From the first planes to the Space Shuttle, planes have become more stable and faster. Speed has been gained not only through aircraft design but also through the power plant. One of the coolest exhibits at the Tellus Museum in Cartersville is a full size Wright Cyclone radial engine. The same engine which powered the B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II. It would have been really cool to have the rest of the plane attached, but that was not so.
