Today’s Photo: Barren Hills and Big Clouds
The one thing I love about the west is its vastness. There is nothing small. From the rivers to the mountains and even the clouds, they are all big. For someone who grew up on the east coast and had never really been west of the Mississippi (drove through west Memphis and back across), it is even more vast than I could have imagined. On the drive out of Boise and into the Boise National Forest, the landscape progresses from high desert to old forest. I was able to get this shot of some of the large hills with nothing but a few scrub bushes and the forested slopes several miles away. I always thought of the tree line as the place on a mountain where the trees did not grow any higher. It was interesting to see the opposite and virtually no trees growing below this line.
