Old Stone House

Today’s Photo:  Old Stone House

This old stone house sits in the middle of one of the first battlefields of the American Civil War.  On the top of the ridge beyond the house, the first bullets flew.  When the battle started, the battle was treated like a Sunday afternoon outing with many from nearby Washington D.C. making the short trip.  Many thought the war would not last long and did not foresee that it would cover the next five years and include another meeting of the North and South on these same fields.  If you click on the photo to make it big, you can see the Henry House sitting on top of the hill.
