Don't Leave The Lights On

Today’s Photo:  Don’t Leave the Lights On

I usually try to keep photos pretty close to what I actually see in real life.  However, every once in a while, a photo comes around that just lends itself to some creative artistry.  I found this truck near the back of the junkyard at Old Car City and immediately knew it was going to be one of those photos.

Flags over Tellus

Today’s Photo:  Flags over Tellus

One of my favorite things about the Tellus Museum is the landscaping.  The grass is meticulously manicured.  The buses are trimmed and some are even in creative shapes.  This bush and the flags are just outside the entrance to the museum.  There was just enough wind to get them flapping in the breeze.

At the last minute, I decided to take a trip to the Pine Mountain Recreation Area in Cartersville for some sunrise photos over Lake Allatoona.  The weather forecast was for partly cloudy skies.  Well, someone does not know what partly cloudy is …Continue Reading Here…

Weekend Trip

Finally, after not getting to focus much on photography, I set up a sunrise trip.  This will be followed by a stop at Old Car City and then home for a few hours of fun photography.

One of the must see spots in the Washington D.C. area is the Udvar-Hazy center.  It is located next to Dulles Airport and you can even get there by shuttle from the Air and Space Museum on the National Mall.  Just don’t forget to watch the time so you don’t miss the shuttle back.  If you drive, there is a fee for parking, but it is free if you get there after 4:00 PM.  However, that only leaves you an hour and a half to fly through.  One of the main attractions used to be the Space Shuttle Enterprise, a test shuttle for NASA, but since the end of the Shuttle program, the Discovery has found its home here.  This shot is from the Enterprise.  I thought it was descent, I didn’t have a wide enough lens, but you can check out Tim Stanley‘s shot of the Enterprise.

Morning on the Pond

Today’s Photo:  Morning on the Pond

Back in October, I took the family on their first camping trip.  We stayed at a little campground called Mountain Glen.  It was a good place to take them for their first trip.  This was the small pond / lake at the bottom of the hill we had our tent set up on.  I am an early riser and when I go camping, that seems to get enhanced greatly.  Maybe it is that I don’t really sleep, or it could have been the extreme weather we faced.  The night before this shot, it misted and was completely cloudy.  I thought the clouds would have stayed until the morning, but the sky was clear for miles.  I set up for the sunrise by the lake and spent the morning with the resident Canadian goose.

Today’s Photo:  Our Tree

Finally, it is done!  Normally, we try to get the tree and all the Christmas decorations up immediately following Thanksgiving.  That did not happen that way this year.  Come to think of it, it usually does not happen that way.  I can say that it was all my fault this year.  I began moving furniture around for the tree and …Continue Reading to find out about

Sunset Through the Gate

Today’s Photo:  Sunset Through the Gate

I drive nearly the same path on a regular basis, so I get to see the sunrise and sunset.  About half the year, my schedule takes me through an area with several good landscape shots, during sunrise and the other half, I go through at sunset.  Right now, it is sunset time and we have been getting some descent clouds in the afternoon and evening.  This is one of the first sunset shots that I have gotten in a while.

Today’s Photo:  Another View of the Falls

I have never been a fall leaf colors person.  I used to care less and wanted nothing to do with the “leaf lookers”.  I found this fall that I am turning into one of them and going camping near Fall Creek Falls made it worse.  Our trip to the falls was [Continue Reading…]

After going through the Georgia National Cemetery, I decided to visit the Marietta National Cemetery.  I grew up in the Cobb County Georgia area and spent many days on and around the square.  At the time, I never took interest in …Continue Reading Here…

Today’s Photo:  Calhoun First United Methodist Church

With everything going on for the end of the year, I am finding that I have very little time to go hunt down churches for my normal Sunday theme.  I found this one along the north edge of town in Calhoun Georgia.  Traffic was heavy, so I only got a couple shots before I had to move.
