A New Puppy

Today’s Photo: A New Puppy

A few days ago, I posted a photo of The Young and The Old.  We have had a dog for more than ten years and now I guess it is time to plan for the future… a little kicking and screaming.  I had no intention of getting a new dog at this point.  I am more than happy with the one I have.  However, my dad brought one home and my children have taken her over.  Several days later and I think she may be here to stay.

This was another bird from the Duck Pond in Jasper.  There must have been 20 – 30 birds gathered around while my little one was feeding them.  You would have thought no one else feed the pesky creatures.  I am just glad that we are able to keep them out of the lake for the most part.  Walking around the lake and stepping in bird poo is not my idea of fun.  I had enough of that growing up and going to summer camp.

I love to shoot animals.  It is one of those things I enjoy, but don’t get to do often.  I was at the Duck Pond in Jasper, Georgia when I ran across this ugly duckling.  The ducks there have been fed so much that all it took was a few pieces of bread to get the dozen or so clustered around me and my daughter.  I was mesmerized by the sky blue eyes on this one.  And then, it decided it wanted all the bread we had to offer.  It’s a good thing we did not have too much out at the time, or it would have run away with it all.

How many people out there remember the talking horse, Mr. Ed.  I’m not sure there are that many left.  I found this one, not Mr. Ed, the other day driving home.  There were several horses in the pasture and one foal.  The foal was running around the other horses in circles.  I stopped to get a few shots and this one walked up to the fence.  He started moving his mouth.  I don’t know if he was trying to talk or just wanted an apple.  However, if he was trying to talk, it had to have been something about the foal running in circles.

I was driving to town the other day with my dad when we ran across this heard of cattle.  There was this one cow brown cow in a heard of black cattle.  Not only did it stand out for being a different color, it was also the only on that had stuck its head through the fence and was munching on the grass from the other side.

A couple weekends ago, I took my children to a friends house to feed their horses.  Taking apples and carrots to a horse is like feeding candy to a kid.  I am just glad I did not feed the candy to the kids before feeding the horses.  It did not take long for …Continue Reading Here…

I am one of those few people who actually like bugs.  That makes it okay when we stop by the butterfly exhibit at the Chattanooga Aquarium.  In the wild, there is very little chance of having one of these beauties light on your fingertip.  However, here, it is a common [Continue Reading…]

Cows in the Morning

Today’s Photo:  Cows in the Morning

For the last year, I have been trying to get these cows in a decent sunrise shot.  I see them here all the time.  The one thing I have noticed is that they never seem to sleep.  When I drive by they are always standing around …Continue Reading Here…

The Shy Horse

Today’s Photo:  The Shy Horse

Where I live, there are lots of horses.  I usually see them all along the drive from home to work.  I think every pasture in a ten mile radius has multiple horses or cows.  The good thing about this, frequently, I get to see them close …Continue Reading Here…
