GIMP Tilt Shift Plug-in

I have admired tilt shift photography for a long time.  I have tried numerous tutorials, plug-ins and workarounds.  Since I decided that a dedicated lens is more than I want to invest in, I have been trying the next best thing which is to make do with free.  I think I finally found what I have been looking for… Toy, a GIMP plug-in.  I am still testing it, but, so far, I am pleased with the results and ease of use.

The Delta Queen is a floating hotel on the north shore of the Tennessee river in Chattanooga.  I took this shot on July 3 while waiting for Pops on the River to start.  You can see the tents and speakers set up in the grass next to the boat.  I got several more shots of the Delta Queen, but held onto this one with the intention of trying out a tilt shift style processing.  Looking back on it, I think I should have tried taking this again a little later with all the people in the park.

The corruption is complete.  I was driving home with my wife and children the other day when she said that I needed to go back and look at a tree by the river.  I pulled over at the next spot and we had a conversation that was …Continue Reading Here…

Today’s Photo:  Walnut Street Bridge at Night

Part of the reason I like Chattanooga Tennessee so much are the bridges.  All of them are picturesque, but one must stand out from the others.  I believe it is the Walnut Street Bridge.  During the day in the summer, the blue framework of the bridge contrasts with …Continue Reading Here…

Some cities are more photogenic than others.  Chattanooga is definitely on the more photogenic end of the list.  This is the John Ross or Market Street Bridge which is near the Chattanooga aquarium.  I have walked over this bridge several times and always love the views from the bridge.  I was excited to be able to get a decent angle to capture it at night.  This shot was from beside the water cannons at Ross’s Landing.

Anyone who wants can check through the past year and a half worth of work and know that I am not usually a portrait photographer.  This is not necessarily because I can’t or don’t want to do it, but more of it being out of …Continue Reading Here…

The Tennessee River starts just outside of Knoxville Tennessee and flows through four states before joining with the Ohio River.  The Watershed flowing into the Tennessee River drains from three more states.  The river in Chattanooga is deep and …Continue Reading Here…

River View of the Hunter

Today’s Photo:  River View of the Hunter

I was taking some magic hour shots of the skyline of Chattanooga when I noticed this cool reflection of the lights from the Hunter Museum in the Tennessee River.  I love reflections and could not pass this one up.  I don’t know if they have it lit …Continue Reading Here…

I saw these old bridge pilings when I was driving around on July 3rd trying to decide where to take firework photo.  If you missed them, you can find one of my lightning and fireworks or just check out my fireworks gallery at Flickr.  So, I was driving around and decided to see if I could find something worth while for a few shots.  I knew of Cooper’s Furnace …Continue Reading Here…
