Midday Gate

Today’s Photo:  Midday Gate

It is extremely rare that I drive past this gate during the midday.  I just happened to be going to a Christmas party with the kids when I saw these perfect clouds.  I stopped for a few shots and we were not even late to the party.  I’m starting to get good at building in some time for unexpected pleasures like this.  Now why can’t the clouds look like this at sunrise or sunset?

I don’t really know that this is a farm.  However, making an educated guess is pretty easy.  There is a lot of land inside this fence and I could see a herd of cattle in the distance.  I took this just before watching a pretty good colorful sunset.  I also stayed around a little longer and got some of those dusk colors after the sun went down.

Sunset Through the Gate

I drive nearly the same path on a regular basis, so I get to see the sunrise and sunset.  About half the year, my schedule takes me through an area with several good landscape shots, during sunrise and the other half, I go through at sunset.  Right now, it is sunset time and we have been getting some descent clouds in the afternoon and evening.  This is one of the first sunset shots that I have gotten in a while.

This is another of those gates that I see frequently.  However, I rarely take photos of it.  Mainly because the view hardly changes.  There are no spectacular sunrises or sunsets. Sometimes I catch the morning fog here, but this time, I was able to capture the first good frost of the year.

Frosty Morning

Today’s Photo:  Frosty Morning

I have shot so many photos of gates in this area, that sometimes I forget to look elsewhere.  What is sad is that this gate is just down the road from the others.  Most of the time, I don’t make it by this gate with good light.  Usually it is too early, as in the [Continue Reading…]

Dew Before Dawn

Today’s Photo:  Dew Before Dawn

Sometimes it feels good to get back to the beginning.  Over the last several months, my schedule has not allowed me to be out and about around sunrise or sunset.  This was probably the closest I was in that time frame and it was still several …Continue Reading Here…

Gate to the Fog

Today’s Photo:  Gate to the Fog

I never tire of this gate or maybe it is the huge range of weather and colors that I see here.  Most of the summer, I get to see lots of fog and then in the spring and fall, I see some really crisp clouds and great colors.  This shot was in [Continue Reading…]

Jupiter, Venus and the Moon

Today’s Photo:  Jupiter, Venus and the Moon

I held on to the dream of being an astronaut for many years after all my peers had moved on.  In fact, I still have that passion for outer space, just the knowledge that I will probably not get to feel the weightlessness of orbit.  I can still enjoy …Continue Reading Here…

Horse at the Gate

Today’s Photo:  Horse at the Gate

Once again, I ran across this horse in the local pasture.  I have been trying to get a good shot of it, but every time I lift the camera, the horse either ducks behind something or puts its head down.  This was one of those times, but with the fog …Continue Reading Here…

Fluffy Clouds at Sunset

Today’s Photo:  Fluffy Clouds at Sunset

I happen to love clouds.  I would sit and watch them for hours when I was little.  If I could, I would still sit for hours, but there just is not enough time to do that.  I loved clouds and weather enough that I had a …Continue Reading Here…
