Japanese Maple in the Rain

Today’s Photo: Japanese Maple in the Rain

I was taking photos in the rain and decided to get some of the rain drops rolling off the Japanese Maple.  The close-ups didn’t turn out like I wanted, but this one did.  This is probably my favorite type of tree, but I saw some impressive trees exploring Oregon.

I like to explore old towns.  I would classify downtown Blue Ridge Georgia definitely as an old town.  It is so much fun to explore the old architecture.  Sometimes you even come across something that tells a little about the history of a building.  There wasn’t anything telling about the history of this building, but the facade tells a little about it.  I’m sure many people have visited this building.  If the walls could talk, I’m sure they would have tons of stories to tell.

Sometimes, it’s worth getting up early on Saturdays.  This morning was one of those.  I woke early and took the short drive to this place.  I shot for about an hour.  The whole trip was only about an hour and a half.  But what a relaxing way to start the day.  I started down stream from this shot and was surprised when I rounded the bend and saw the sun shining through the trees.  I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Through It All

Today’s Photo: Through It All

I took this photo the other day while I was waiting on a super cell thunderstorm to roll through.  It was one of the cells that produced at least one tornado.  The rain had just started and the wind was moving the water pretty good.  All I was missing were some red rockets and musket fire.  I think I may have even been able to put a ship in the water.  It wouldn’t have been a large one though.  This flag has flown for a while now and has stood through many storms.

Just a Sunrise

Today’s Photo: Just a Sunrise

Life has gotten in the way the past several weeks and I have not gotten the time behind the camera that I like.  Now that it is getting warm and good weather, I hope to get back into the groove.  This was just a routine sunrise for around here.  Not many clouds in the sky and little color.  I was pleased though with the crispness of the photo.  Click on the photo and view it big.  You can even see the spiderwebs on the barbed wire fence.

Christmas Lights on the Pavilion

Today’s Photo: Christmas Lights on the Pavilion

Fairmount Georgia is not a large town by any stretch.  However, it still sports a small town square with a park.  Every December, it is decorated with Christmas lights.  They are not extravagant, but that is what drew me to them.  They are simple, but still manage to convey the beauty of Christmas.  This is the pavilion that sits in the middle of the park.

The Lit Path

I am still mesmerized by the photos from my visit to the Garden Lights exhibit.  Not only are there many different beautiful scenes, but virtually every path is lined by lights of all colors.  This was about halfway through our walk in the gardens and it had just begun to rain and started making some good reflections off the pavement.

Diverging Paths

Today’s Photo: Diverging Paths

Like the paths around these memorial gardens, the lives of these soldiers took many different paths.  They also came from may different paths, but all shared one thing in common.  A love for a county and a duty to serve.  For what ever reasons, these men and women decided to give a part of them to keep an idea alive.  Although many never knew each other, they share this common bond.  Both in life and now in death.

Today’s Photo: Like a Pinwheel

Spin the wheel and no one knows where it will land.  That is what the weather has been like this year.  One day it is cold, the next hot.  This weekend was perfect though.  Cool in the morning and just right for the afternoon.  This was the first weekend in a long time like this, so I spent it fishing and having fun.  Sometimes it is good to put the camera down and enjoy life.

Today’s Photo: The Ugly Duckling

I love to shoot animals.  It is one of those things I enjoy, but don’t get to do often.  I was at the Duck Pond in Jasper, Georgia when I ran across this ugly duckling.  The ducks there have been fed so much that all it took was a few pieces of bread to get the dozen or so clustered around me and my daughter.  I was mesmerized by the sky blue eyes on this one.  And then, it decided it wanted all the bread we had to offer.  It’s a good thing we did not have too much out at the time, or it would have run away with it all.
