Sledding Time

Today’s Photo: Sledding Time

I used to not take my camera when I go to events with my children.  Now I do but I get so tied up in what is going on, that I don’t take too many photos.  My daughter went to a birthday party where they have a year round downhill tubing slope.  I am glad that I decided to break out the camera for this.  I got some great smiles and joy captured.  This was one of many.

I See You

Today’s Photo: I See You

I have the best time when the kids decide they want to get involved.  They make such good subjects for the camera.  I have such a hard time choosing what photos to share because there are so many.  This is just another one from our 50mm fun day.

Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

Today’s Photo: Kiss Me, I’m Irish!

There are days when I want to take photos of the kids and they are the worst subjects.  They will not stand still, I pose them and they move and they are usually in a foul mood.  Then there are those days that I run out of room on my memory cards.  Yes, all of them and I have several large ones.  I caught them in that mood the other day and decided to have a little 50mm fun.  This is one of the shots.

Internet trouble:

Have you ever had a week where nothing went as planned?  Well, on top of the WordPress problems, my internet went out.  Now I am back up (hopefully), and things should be running fine.  I guess that is the price to pay living in the middle of no where.

So close, yet so far away!

I am not one to deny my children the small pleasures in life.  However, this was one of those times.  Most people would probably look at this and assume that I did not let her have ice cream because it was freezing cold outside.  That is not the case here I can assure you.  In fact, the best time of the year to eat ice cream is the winter and drink coffee is the summer.  No, I denied the children the ice cream because I had already gotten a box of fudge.

Game Face

One of my favorite genres of photography is Street Photography.  To me, there is nothing better than catching a candid shot of person engaged in whatever it is that they are doing.  For me, it is also one of the most challenging.  I am not a “people” person and prefer to spend time alone and away from crowds.  I do try to push the edge of uncomfortable for me and sometimes I walk away with something that I am proud of.

I took this shot at Dixie Speedway last summer.  I spent an evening in the pits with my brother and two nephews, one happens to race.  I was walking around getting some shots of the cars and made it back by just in time to see my nephew getting ready to race…

Ready for Game Day

My favorite sports time of the year is the fall.  You get both college and professional football.  Being from Georgia, I am an Atlanta Falcons fan and was excited with their season this year.  Even with the loss of the NFC championship, I am proud of their performance.  For the game, I had to get my children engaged since it was several hours long.  For my part, I decided to paint them up.  I am much better with a camera than the paintbrush.

Just Hanging Out

Today’s Photo:  Just Hanging Out

I believe that the best way to improve in anything in life is to identify an area that you find takes you out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in it.  For me lately, that has been taking candid and “life” portraits.  I had tons of fun with this [Continue Reading…]

Family gatherings are great photo opportunities.  You never know what is going to happen.  Everyone expects you to be taking photos and just relax.  I have been practicing some of my “street” photography lately and this has been a good …Continue Reading Here…

Making Footsteps in the Sand

Today’s Photo:  Making Footsteps in the Sand

I love the water.  It does not have to be the ocean, it could be a pool, river or lake.  This just happened to be one of our trips to the beach.  My daughter was panicking and would not get near the surf, so I relinquished the camera to my wife.  I did not know she was taking …Continue Reading Here…

Double Trouble

Today’s Photo:  Double Trouble

What a fitting tribute to 500 posts.  I love to create and capture memories and these two happen to be the inspiration for many of my shots.  There are many times they will be with me when I am out shooting and start taking …Continue Reading Here…
